  • 1 lb ground beef (lean)
  • 1 lb Italian sausage (mild or spicy)
  • 3 cups spaghetti or penne pasta
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 cup bread crumbs (preferably panko)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a large baking dish.
  2. Cook pasta in boiling water until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a skillet, brown ground beef and Italian sausage over medium heat for about 8 minutes. Drain excess fat.
  4. Stir in marinara sauce, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning; simmer for 5 minutes.
  5. In the greased baking dish, layer half of the cooked pasta, half of the meat mixture, and half of the mozzarella cheese. Repeat layers.
  6. Mix remaining mozzarella with bread crumbs and sprinkle on top. Bake uncovered for 25-30 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
  7. Let rest for 10 minutes before serving.
