  • 1 ½ cups water
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 8 oz sushi-grade salmon, thinly sliced
  • 1 ripe avocado, sliced
  • 4 nori sheets (seaweed)
  • Soy sauce (for dipping)
  • Wasabi (optional)
  • Pickled ginger (optional)

Instructions

  1. Rinse sushi rice under cold water until clear. Cook with water according to package instructions (about 20 minutes). Allow cooling slightly.
  2. Mix rice vinegar, sugar, and salt until dissolved; gently fold into warm rice.
  3. Lay nori on a bamboo mat; spread rice over two-thirds of the sheet.
  4. Arrange salmon and avocado slices along the edge of the rice.
  5. Roll tightly using the mat; wet fingers to prevent sticking.
  6. Slice into bite-sized pieces with a sharp knife dipped in water. Serve with soy sauce, wasabi, and pickled ginger.
