  • 1/2 cup plain breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups low-sodium beef broth
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce (low sodium preferred)
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil (for searing)
  • Chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, onion, garlic, egg, salt, and pepper until just mixed.
  2. Form the mixture into golf-ball-sized meatballs (about 1½ inches in diameter).
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and sear meatballs until browned on all sides (approximately 8 minutes total).
  4. Remove meatballs from the skillet. In the same pan, add flour and stir for about 1-2 minutes until golden.
  5. Gradually whisk in beef broth, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper; bring to a simmer.
  6. Return meatballs to the gravy and cover; simmer for about 15 minutes until cooked through.
