  • 2 tbsp red gel food coloring
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup cream cheese frosting

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake tin with paper liners.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix sugar and vegetable oil until smooth. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in buttermilk, food coloring, and vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually fold the dry mixture into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  5. Fill cupcake liners two-thirds full with batter and bake for 20-25 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Allow to cool completely before frosting with cream cheese frosting.
