  • 3 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 1 medium yellow onion, finely chopped
  • 1 cup low-sodium chicken broth
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce (your favorite brand)
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 2 tbsp honey

Instructions

  1. Prep Your Ingredients: Finely chop the onion and mince the garlic.
  2. Sear the Chicken: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Sear each chicken breast for 5-7 minutes per side until golden brown.
  3. Add Aromatics: Stir in the chopped onions and garlic; cook until translucent (about 3-4 minutes).
  4. Create the Sauce: Add chicken broth, BBQ sauce, cayenne pepper, and honey. Simmer briefly while scraping browned bits from the skillet.
  5. Slow Cook: Transfer everything to a slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours until shredded easily with a fork.
  6. Shred & Serve: Remove chicken from the slow cooker and shred with two forks. Mix with remaining sauce before serving.
