  • 4 large russet potatoes (about 2 lbs), thinly sliced
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp butter, for greasing
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter.
  2. Thinly slice the russet potatoes using a knife or mandoline.
  3. In a bowl, mix heavy cream with minced garlic, salt, and pepper until blended.
  4. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the baking dish, pour half of the cream mixture over them, and sprinkle with 1 cup of cheddar cheese.
  5. Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, cream mixture, and top with the remaining cheese.
  6. Cover with aluminum foil (shiny side down) and bake for 40 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 20-30 minutes until golden brown and bubbling.
  7. Let cool slightly before serving.
