  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8×8 inch baking pan.
  2. In a saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Remove from heat, then whisk in both sugars until combined.
  3. Allow the mixture to cool slightly before adding eggs one at a time, whisking well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gradually fold into the wet mixture until just combined; avoid overmixing.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth with a spatula. Optionally sprinkle chocolate chips on top.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes until set but still soft in the middle; a toothpick inserted should come out with moist crumbs.
  7. Let cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack and cutting into squares.
