  • 1 ½ cups room temperature water (360ml)
  • 2 tsp active dry yeast (7g)
  • 2 tsp sea salt (12g)
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil (30ml)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix flour and salt.
  2. Dissolve active dry yeast in warm water until bubbly, then add to the flour mixture. Stir until combined into a shaggy dough.
  3. Lightly flour a surface and knead the dough by hand for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic or use a stand mixer with a dough hook.
  4. Form a ball from the dough and place it in an oiled bowl, covering it with plastic wrap or a damp cloth. Let rise at room temperature for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
  5. Gently deflate the dough on a floured surface, divide it into two parts and shape each into an oblong loaf.
  6. Transfer loaves onto parchment-lined baking sheets and cover them with cloths to rise for another 30-45 minutes.
  7. Preheat oven to 450°F (230°C) and bake loaves for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
