  • 1 lb beef flank steak
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • Rice or lettuce leaves (for serving)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix soy sauce, brown sugar, minced garlic, grated ginger, sesame oil, and black pepper until smooth.
  2. Slice flank steak thinly against the grain. Place the slices in a resealable bag or dish and pour the marinade over. Seal tightly and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add marinated beef slices in batches without overcrowding. Sear each side for about 2-3 minutes until browned.
  4. Just before removing from heat, stir in chopped green onions and cook for an additional minute.
  5. Plate bulgogi beef with rice or lettuce leaves. Garnish with sesame seeds if desired.
