  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or dark)
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8×8 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy (about 3-4 minutes).
  3. Beat in eggs one at a time along with the vanilla extract until fully combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  6. Stir in half the chocolate chips into the brownie batter.
  7. For the cookie layer: In another bowl, beat butter and sugars until fluffy; add eggs and vanilla, then mix in flour, baking powder, and salt.
  8. Fold in remaining chocolate chips into cookie dough.
  9. Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared pan, dollop cookie dough on top, then swirl remaining brownie batter over it.
  10. Bake for 25-30 minutes until edges are set but center is slightly gooey. Cool before cutting.
