Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt.

Add eggs one at a time, mixing in vanilla extract until smooth.
Gradually combine dry ingredients with the butter mixture alternating with milk until just combined.

For custard: whisk milk, sugar, cornstarch, egg yolks, and vanilla over medium heat until thickened (about 5 minutes).
