Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 medium Granny Smith or Honeycrisp apples, cored and sliced
  • 1 package (14 oz) store-bought pie crust
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a small saucepan, combine sugar, cinnamon, butter, water, and vanilla extract. Heat over low until the sugar dissolves and the mixture thickens slightly (about 5 minutes).
  3. Roll out the pie crust on a floured surface and cut into squares large enough to wrap around apple slices.
  4. Place an apple slice in the center of each square and drizzle with syrup. Fold and pinch the edges to seal.
  5. Arrange dumplings seam-side down in a greased baking dish and pour remaining syrup over them.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown. Serve warm.
