  • 4 cups low-sodium beef broth
  • 1 medium onion, chopped

  • 2 cups fresh green cabbage, chopped
  • 1 cup carrots, thinly sliced
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 cup uncooked long-grain white rice
  • 2 tsp dried oregano
  • 2 tsp dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare your ingredients: Chop onion and garlic, dice carrots, and slice cabbage.
  2. Brown the ground beef in a large pot over medium heat until fully cooked; drain excess fat.
  3. Add chopped onions and garlic to the pot; sauté until translucent (3-4 minutes).
  4. Stir in tomato sauce, beef broth, uncooked rice, carrots, cabbage, oregano, and basil; season with salt and pepper.
  5. Bring to a gentle boil; reduce heat to low and simmer for 30-40 minutes until rice is tender.
