  • 1 can (28 oz) whole peeled tomatoes

  • 1/4 cup fresh basil (chopped)
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp sugar (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to boil. Add pasta and cook until al dente according to package instructions; drain.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, heat olive oil. Sauté chopped onions until translucent.
  3. Add minced garlic; cook until fragrant (about 30 seconds).
  4. Stir in canned tomatoes with juices; season with salt, pepper, and sugar (if using). Simmer for 15-20 minutes until thickened.
  5. Mix in fresh basil just before serving and top with grated Parmesan cheese.
  6. Combine drained pasta with sauce in the skillet until well-coated. Serve hot.
